Fringe Arts Bath Photomarathon 2013

May 04, 2013  •  3 Comments

Today I took part in the Fringe Arts Bath Photomarathon. The aim of the day was to find images to fit the 20 themes that we had been given. That shouldn't be too difficult... right?

Wrong!

It wasn't as simple as just collecting the 20 images - the images needed to be collected in order! All too often you would find yourself faced with a perfect shot to fit a certain theme but then realise that you had already passed that theme and faced the decision of either ignoring it and moving on or grabbing the shot only to have to delete and redo all of the subsequent themes! I had initially thought that 10 hours would be plenty of time in which to photograph the 20 themes but once you had brainstormed, hunted down the shot and then tackled the next theme, the time slipped away rather quickly. By the end of the day I was completely and utterly knackered having hardly stopped walking all day!

Here are my photos. Along the way I ended up deleting quite a few photos which I was pretty happy with but, with just one photo required for each image, part of the challenge was to provide the best image which you could find! The photo themes were given to us in two stages - the first ten at 10am.

1. Entry Number - 661

2. Pattern

3. Detail

4. Upside-Down

5. Reflection

6. Stranger

7. Fashion

8. Warning

9. Looking Up

10. Classic

In order to pick up the second set of ten themes, we were all required to meet up with the organisers at 3pm. This gave us all a good excuse to have a well-earned rest and go over the photos we had taken so far. The second set of themes were definitely much more challenging than the first set and I personally found it rather difficult to build up the motivation to get going again (maybe the wine wasn't such a great idea!). But get going I did - I even managed to fulfill all of the themes and make it to the finish line.

11. Secret

12. Blue

13. Joined Up

14. Self Portrait

15. Hot

16. Playing Games

17. Imagine

18. Force

19. Looking Through

20. The Finish Line

It was a great day, even though it was very tiring! I can't wait to see all of the photos at the Fringe Arts Bath exhibition to see how everyone interpreted the themes.

Hi Kate,
I met you in java on the day of the marathon! Just wanted to say I like pattern, secret and looking through the most. Hopefully I will see you at the photowalk after June 2nd cause I'll be in France for that one.
Nice to have met you x
