Over the bank holiday weekend I was up in London to see Muse performing at the Emirates Stadium. After a jam-packed couple of weeks in the run up to the bank holiday I was really looking forward to letting my hair down and not being tied to my laptop. I did take my camera along (of course) and wanted to grab a few touristy snaps. We started by heading over to One New Change and treated ourselves to a cocktail on the rooftop terrace overlooking St Pauls and with an amazing skyline view.

Afterwards we headed over to the inner city with the aim of taking some additional photos for my Monochrome London series. With none of the offices open, it was quite like a ghost town. All of the pubs, restaurants and coffee shops were also closed. It was great to just wander around staring up at the huge buildings and be able to wander down the middle of streets which normally, during a weekday, would be bumper to bumper with cars! We also stumbled across Leadenhall Market which was very picturesque.

We were so lucky with the weather - blue skies and sun (almost unheard of for a bank holiday!) and I quickly realised that many of the images I wanted to take would work much better in colour.

We continued being tourists on the following day, opting to take an open-top bus tour through the City. It was really nice to see many of the tourist sights in quick succession although it was a shame that many of the landmarks had to be missed due to a diversion. We did, however, manage to fit in a very amusing boat trip along the Thames followed by a wander around Westminster where we very nearly got caught up in a protest (in hindsight, passing by the 15+ riot vans parked near Downing Street probably wasn't our best idea!).

You can find more of the colour photos here and all images are available for purchase.
