The Feeling @ Bristol O2 Academy

Last night I popped along to the O2 in Bristol to photograph The Feeling. It has been far too long since I last saw them perform live and I was excited to hear their new material.

I arrived just in time to catch the support act Yellowire who were rather energetic and then, as it wasn't too crammed, I managed to get out of the pit for a few minutes and grab a drink before The Feeling took to the stage. It all sounded fab and the lighting was pretty dramatic too - that did mean, however, that it was a rather tricky set to photograph with lots of smoke to contend with and shadows a-plenty!

Unfortunately I had to rush off before the encore in order to catch the last train - such a shame as I would have loved to have gotten a few more shots. On the plus side I was the only photographer in the pit and so could run around to my hearts content in order to take advantage of the best lighting conditions and with no limit on the number of songs that I could shoot, I was able to hold back from shooting for a song or two if the stage was particularly dark! It was nice to have such a free reign and, as I wasn't shooting to fit a particular brief, I really enjoyed being able to get a bit creative.
